With Song School Bible Old Testament, 1st and 2nd graders will sing, read, pray, and color their way from the story of Creation in Genesis to the promise of a Messiah in Malachi. Whether they’re singing songs about David or reading stories about Esther, students will encounter important truths about God and God’s people as they learn about the Old Testament.

This book contains 32 weekly chapters divided into 6 units. Each chapter contains the following:

    • a memory page that includes a memory verse, an important words chart, and the chapter’s song lyrics
    • a simple, engaging retelling of Old Testament stories
    • a keyword section that dives into the meaning of a specific word in relation to the chapter’s story
    • student exercises

Students are guided through the units by Micah and Taliah, fictional Jewish children who live before the coming of Jesus Christ, and their pet camel, Jethro.

    Claire A. Larsen MA

Claire Larsen has had a passion for writing for children ever since she took her first Institute of Children’s Literature course more than 45 years ago. One of her assignments from this course was published in Jack and Jill magazine.

Claire graduated from Covenant College in 1970. There she met her husband, David Larsen. Their marriage lasted until David’s death in 2019. While attending Covenant College, Claire developed a Christian worldview and a reformed theological foundation that has shaped her writing and teaching. Over the years, she has had a busy ministry, teaching Bible studies and speaking at seminars.

In 2000, Claire received a master of arts in counseling from Biblical Theological Seminary. She spent the next seventeen years self-employed as a biblical counselor. During this time, she wrote the God’s Great Covenant series. Later, she co-wrote the first four books of the Curious Historian series with her son, Aaron Larsen. Both series are published by Classical Academic Press. She is presently working toward a master of arts in biblical studies from Reformed Theological Seminary.

Claire has 3 sons, 3 grandchildren, and 2 grand-dogs. She retired in 2017 and moved to sunny Orlando, Florida. When she is not writing, studying, or teaching Bible studies, she spends her time playing the piano, babysitting grand-dogs, and spending time with her family and friends.
