Principles of Chemistry is a mastery-learning, integrated, and wonder-inspiring textbook for high school. Rigor and elegance have met.

Schools seeking to build a premier science program now have an exceptional new resource. Principles of Chemistry uses our mastery-learning method which deepens learning and dramatically improves content retention. Written by a single veteran educator (not by a committee) in a conversational style, this text is a favorite with students.

Prose is written with lucidity and attention to detail making this text what has been sorely missing from the offerings. Students appreciate the manageable size, and the page layout is both interesting and aesthetically sensitive.

In addition to the standard chemistry content necessary for a STEM-strong curriculum, Principles of Chemistry adds enriching context and dimension: the history of the development of chemistry figures prominently.

Discussion of the wonder of the natural world, integration of relevant mathematics, and the example of accurate technical communication appear throughout.

As discussed in our Textbook Philosophy, Centripetal Press texts are elegant and clean on the page. We aim to draw the student in to engage with the narrative and assimilate the concepts, in other words, to learn, master, and retain. Relevant images and tasteful page layout avoid the loud, distracting style that so many texts today employ.
