A yearlong course for grades 5-7
This answer key corresponds to French for Children Primer B and includes teacher’s notes, the worksheets, and the quizzes from the primer with answers filled in with a large, bold font. French for Children Primer B, the second book in the French for Children series, is just as engaging, incremental, and creative as French for Children Primer A. Students will learn new grammar concepts and much new vocabulary.
This classical, beautiful, and widely spoken language will be a treasure for children to continue to learn. There is a distinction, however, between just learning common words and phrases, which is the approach of many French programs, and knowing the language well enough to communicate fluently and accurately. French for Children Primer B continues to teach upper-elementary students this dynamic language, both classically and creatively. This book employs the pedagogy and structure in the same manner as French for Children Primer A, combined with immersion-style dialogues and vocabulary so that the French language will be taught well and thoroughly. The French for Children series emphasizes grammar and the parts of speech as vital tools for correctly speaking and understanding French. Lessons also include lively chants to aid memorization of both grammar and vocabulary.
See the Support tab above for schedule recommendations and complimentary audio files featuring the Pronunciation Wizard, dialogues, Say It Aloud exercises, and dicteés.
French for Children Primer B Audio Files (Zipped MP3) These complimentary files feature dialogues, Say It Aloud exercises, and dicteés. These files do not include the grammar chart chants, complete vocabulary, or Conversation Journal words and phrases.
Joshua Kraut, PhD
Dr. Joshua Kraut has a BA in French, an MA in applied linguistics, a second MA in French literature and language (M2 en Lettres Modernes) from the Université Aix-Marseille, and a PhD in linguistics from Georgetown University. He is an incurable Francophile who has been teaching language or about language for over fifteen years. Josh served as an English instructor in Orléans, France, and then as an administrator and instructor for Temple University’s Intensive English Language Program.
Joshua has taught at every level of the French school system, from elementary through university, spent a summer of research in Francophone West Africa (Burkina Faso), and greeted his first child in a small Provençal hospital. The dual blessings of these rich cultural experiences and an inexplicable ability to imitate accents mean that Joshua is regularly mistaken for a Frenchman on the street in France.
Joshua is married to Julia, author of the Song School Spanish and Spanish for Children series. He enjoys conversing entirely in French with his children.
