CAP Contest

Embark on a Journey of Cultural Exploration

For our September/October contest, we invite your family to explore a different culture — through food, traditions, music, and art — and to share what you’ve learned and enjoyed along the way.

How to Participate:

Choose a Culture:
Start by selecting a culture that interests your family. It could be a culture from a different country, a different state, or even a unique subculture within your own community.

Explore Through Activities:

    • Food: Try cooking or eating traditional dishes from your chosen culture. You can visit a local ethnic restaurant, cook a meal at home using authentic recipes, or attend a cultural food festival.
    • Traditions: Engage in a cultural tradition or celebration. Consider attending a cultural event, learning a traditional dance, or participating in a meaningful ritual.
    • Music: Dive into the music of your chosen culture. Listen to traditional songs, attend a live performance, or even try your hand at playing an instrument associated with that culture.
    • Art: Appreciate or create art that is significant to the culture. You might visit a museum, make traditional crafts, or explore the history and meaning behind the culture’s art forms.

Document Your Experience:
As you explore, take photos to document your journey. Capture the moments of discovery—whether it’s the food you cook, the events you attend, the music you listen to, or the art you create.

Write a Reflection:
After your exploration, take some time to reflect as a family. Write about:

    • What you learned about the culture.
    • What you enjoyed the most.
    • Any surprises or insights you gained.
    • How this experience helped you understand or appreciate the culture better.

Submit Your Entry:
Put together a submission that includes your photos and your written reflection, then use the form below to enter by October 20, 2024. The winner will receive a copy of Charlotte Mason: A Liberal Education for All. We’re excited to see what you discover!
