Chemistry for Accelerated Students

SCIENCE - Grade: 10-11

For students on the Novare "accelerated pathway", sophomores follow Accelerated Studies in Physics and Chemistry (ASPC) with Chemistry for Accelerated Students. While the book contains much of the same content as General Chemistry, it goes deeper into many topics, has some more challenging exercises, and includes some additional chapters: Solution Chemistry, Chemical Equilibrium, and an introduction to Organic Chemistry.

Like all Novare texts, this book contains graphical and page layout features that are aesthetically sensitive, relevant to the text and hype-free.

The book supports the mastery learning paradigm with cumulative assessments and repeated use of lower-level skills in higher-level exercises. It strives to integrate enriching content from history, mathematics, philosophy, and written communication. And occasional observations about the wondrous created world God has made frame the Kingdom Perspective that undergirds Novare books.

Chemistry Experiments for High School is the chemistry experiment manual for school-based chemistry teachers with classrooms fitted with standard lab fixtures for bunsen burners, vent hoods, and secure chemical storage cabinetry.

The book includes instructions for each lab, background, materials lists, discussion questions, any safety issues and materials disposal procedures. It is a consumable book for students with perforated pages. Discussion and note-taking/observation pages can be removed and turned in.

The experiments align with specific pages from the two Novare chemistry texts above.

Chemistry Experiments for High School at Home

SCIENCE - Grade: 10-12

Chemistry Experiments for High School at Home is the chemistry experiment manual for homeschools and schools that do not have standard lab fixtures such as gas jets for bunsen burners, vent hoods or secure chemical storage.

While it includes almost all of the same experiments in Chemistry Experiments for High School, adaptations have been made where necessary to make these experiments doable at home. Chemicals available to consumers have been substituted, alternative flame sources are discussed, and there is a detailed introduction for non-science teachers discussing planning and costs, chemicals and apparatus list, glass tubing, preparation of stock solutions, and expectations for lab reports and lab journals. A detailed chart of materials is also included in the introduction.

Though adapted for home use, the experiments are still fun, illustrative of chemical principles, and conceived to bring students into the real experience of adult laboratory processes.
